Music, part 1

Decided to go through my CD collection... The ones I love, the ones I loathe.

Ayumi Hamasaki - Rainbow
Ayumi Hamasaki - A Best
Ayumi Hamasaki - I am...
Ayumi Hamasaki - My Story

Mm... Not too much I can say about these... Ayumi's got a pretty unique voice, and most of these CDs (with the exception of My Story) was bought during the time when I was crazy over her songs haha... A Best, I Am... and Rainbow are the better ones here... My Story's songs are ALL repetitive... It's like within each individual song there's so little variation that it's SO damn boring. Still, not too bad.

Utada Hikaru - First Love
Utada Hikaru - Deep River
Utada Hikaru - Exodus

First Love was given to me by my mum's tenant back when we lived in Bishan, but I never actually listened to much Jpop back then. It was only after I got Deep River that I recalled having that CD in the first place X) I like her slower songs... Her voice is pretty suited to them, and she carries it off with alot of feeling and emotion put in. Now, for Exodus, her debut English album... There's really nothing good I can say about it... It sucks. Bad lyrics. Baaaaaaaaaad lyrics, sleaze, lots of it, and there you have it, the perfect concoction for bad music. I seriously have no idea which illiterate she got off the streets to write the songs. I always quote this same example of the lyrics in her album, but it's always enough: "I'm easy breezy but you're Japaneesy." I know you wanna cringe. Go ahead.

Sun Yanzi - The Moment
Sun Yanzi - A Perfect Day

I've always liked Yanzi's songs, 'cause they've got good lyrics and she brings out the emotions connotated by the songs. The Moment's a great compilation of her older songs, which includes my favourite song of hers, Tian Hei Hei. A Perfect Day just got released recently, and she doesn't fail to deliver... The title track sounds kinda dumb though. "I have a big house." So what -_-

Liang Jing Ru - Wings of Love
Liang Jing Ru - Silkroad of Love

I heard of her a loooong time ago, but it wasn't till I heard Fly Away from her that I really took any notice of her songs. These 2 albums are pretty different, but she's really versatile and they both sound good X)

Well, there's still plenty of CDs to go through, so I'll leave them for some other time

Prince of Egypt OST
BoA - Valenti
Corrinne May - Safe In A Crazy World
Corrinne May - Fly Away
Twins - Jian Xi Ai Shen
Jolin Tsai - J-Game
F.I.R - F.I.R
F.I.R - Wu Xian
Cai Chun Jia - Ri Chu
Cai Chun Jia - You Yi Tian Wo Hui
Eriko Imai - My Identity
Every Little Thing - Acoustic: Latte
Tong En - Zuo Zi Ji

A trip down Memory Lane

Let's see... Did guard duty last night, and while walking down the long stretch of road in my camp, memories of Saturday, 14th February 2004 surfaced in my mind. Valentine's Day.

Well... To me, that night was special - nah, magical... After all, being able to spend it with someone you love would have been a blessing for anyone. I was one of those lucky souls... At that time, at least.

My date was my classmate... Someone I had taken a fancy to since... I first saw the class. Let's call her A. Of course, it was pretty much a natural progression for me to want to get to know her better, so by the end of the first year, we were pretty close.

We had agreed to attend a dinner at her church, which was specially organised for Valentine's Day, together with her friend (whom I also knew, although not too well). Earlier in the day she was playing tour guide to a group of Japanese students, so in the meantime I asked another classmate out (let's call her J) to shop with me for a present and flowers.

Sidenote: On the streets (yet) another classmate, who was on a date of his own, spotted me and J together and automatically assumed the obvious. Fortunately enough we managed to clear that up lol. Imagine the amount of gossip that would have otherwise sprouted.

Back to where we were... So yeah, I decided on a teddy bear and a rose, and so was all set to meet my date. The dinner was pretty good and the place was nicely decorated with a good ambience... But it wasn't the best part of the evening yet.

Before I met up with A, J had gone off to meet up with her other friends, so after dinner, we decided to go look for J in town. Her friend left at this point, so it was just me and her.

So we took an MRT to Somerset thinking that they were at Cineleisure, but by the time we got there, they had gone to PS =/ So we had to take a short walk along the streets. Now, this short walk wasn't anything out of the ordinary, But to me, it was when I felt closest to her... Maybe it was the fact that it was the quiet path; maybe, it was the small talk that we made about how the earlier part of the day went for her. I don't, and probably won't know. But this walk would be kept in my memory for a long time to come... It was my walk to remember.

Sadly... The end of that night was also the end of my Cinderella tale... The next few months weren't too easy, but we remained friends in the end, however different circumstances were. We weren't as close from then on, but nonetheless, I'm confident enough to say that I'm happy that she's found her partner.

So girl, take care and I wish you only the best.

Something Stupid - Frank Sinatra

I know I'd stand in line until you think
You have the time to spend an evening with me
And if we go someplace to dance I know
That there's a chance you won't be leaving with me.

And afterwards we'd drop into a quiet little place
To have a drink or two
And then I'd go and spoil it all
By saying something stupid like I love you.

I can see it in your eyes that you despise
The same old lies you heard the night before
And though it's just a line to you
For me it's true and never seemed so right before.

I practice everyday to find some clever lines
To say, to make the meaning come true
But then I think I'll wait until
The evening's gettin' late and I'm alone with you.

The time is right, your perfume fills my head
The stars get red and all the night's so blue
And then I'd go and spoil it all
By saying something stupid like I love you.

--- Instrumental ---

The time is right, your perfume fills my head
The stars get red and all the night's so blue
And then I'd go and spoil it all
By saying something stupid like I love you.

And when I'd go and spoil it all
By saying something stupid like I love you...

Deja Vu

Well, been long since I had an actual post eh? This isn't gonna be one either haha... Just some things I'd like to highlight I guess... For some (inexplicable?) reason... I decided to go start to speak to those people on my contact list that I haven't talked to in a while, if at all. Don't ask me why, but I guess I'm gonna be spending less time on games and crap and more on people I guess. Which is a good thing, yes?

Also, I heard this song on the radio a few days ago... And it sounded SOOO darned familiar. I managed to get the title and singer of the song, but it didn't seem to relate in any way to how I might have heard it before. So after tracing the singer, I found out more stuff, and was finally able to find the Japanese version of the song haha... And lo and behold. It was on my com, in my sister's mp3 directory that I stole when my harddisk failed. Yet I don't recall hearing it on my computer. Hmm.

Full circle eh?

Wishes - Emi Fujita

I looked in the sky and there
I saw
a star shining so bright above
I closed my eyes and wished upon the star
that I would find true love
Someone who needed me
Someone to share my life
For a love that would be true
I would wait forever
So...no...matter how long
it may be
I will be waiting
One star-brighter than the others
Two Hearts-beating for each other
I believe wishes really come true
Love at first sight I knew it
from the moment when you said hello
I hoped you felt it too
but we were both so shy
how was I to know
when you reached for my hand
I knew you were the one
We laughed and talked for hours
like I'd known you forever
Like...a...dream or something from a book
True love has found me
One star-brighter than the others
Two Hearts-beating for each other
Now I see wishes really come true
You just have to dream
Nothing's as bad as it seems to be...believe me
Someone's waiting for you to try
There in the sky
One star-brighter than the others
Two Hearts-beating for each other
You will see wishes really come true
You can't stop believing-wishes do come true
You gotta believe me (wish on a star)
wishes do come true...

Overhaul... Again?

Yep... Everything's new... Inspired after watching Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children. If you haven't watched it, you should do so immediately. It's darned good.

Anyway, I finally got down to finishing up (or rather, redoing) what I left hanging for a month or so heh... Thanks to Danielle =P Seeing all her beautiful blog designs kinda egged me on.

And uh... Hopefully I'll be utilising this space more often now...

Yet to finish up on the design of this page though... It's missing links as well as some other stuff I wanna add but I'm currently too lazy to.
