Everytime I get home, it becomes a struggle to stay awake, and most of the time I just succumb and doze off, only to wake up at some unearthly hour and force myself to get back to sleep again. Aside from that, it's a pretty okay job I guess. The school has pretty serious discipline issues, and having to deal with the problematic students is a pain in the ass, though it's offset by the fact that I have an opportunity to help those willing to learn. I also get to hear all sorts of stupid/amusing/funny/interesting rumours and incidents regarding the students too haha... Sometimes I feel like an auntie delving into malicious gossip haha...
The standard of English in there is pretty bad, so much so that it's affecting their ability to understand other subjects, since they cannot grasp what their questions are asking. Having to communicate in simpler English is having it's effects on me too. Darnit.
I caught the Phantom of the Opera just last night, and I enjoyed
whatever I was awake for and not struggling to sleep during. Yeah, the aforementioned fatigue got to me last night. It was such a pity! I still enjoyed myself nonetheless, seeing the impeccable performance unfold before my eyes, the music, acting, lighting, and props coming together like clockwork to put up a stunning show. To everyone and anyone reading, you should watch it. Even if it does burn a hole in your pocket, like it did to mine... And remember to have a nap before if you're prone to dozing off, like me =(

I've also been watching some J-Dramas on
crunchyroll, namely Unfair and Ace Wo Nerae.
Unfair's a detective show, and throughout it's 11 episodes, it's always difficult to determine who exactly the perpetrator is, until it's revealed for sure. I really don't want to spoil anything about the show, so I'm just going to say that it has a really fantastic plot, and avoid reading the comments if you're watching it on crunchyroll, as some idiots just have to spoil the show for everyone watching. I probably wouldn't have been as pissed if it weren't a DETECTIVE MYSTERY.
Ace Wo Nerae (Translated as Aim for Ace) is basically a "girl with sheer willpower goes against all odds to achieve something" show based around tennis. Admittedly, I was first attracted to the show by the screencaps which featured the main lead, Aya Ueto (A really cute Japanese singer/actor). The plot's a little cheesy, but man, the way the series ended was just... Touching. No, it's not a "finally we can be together" thing, but rather something deeper and more mature. I haven't had this kind of feeling for a show for quite some time already.
Another drama I've been trying to follow is The Hospital, which is showing on Channel U during weekend evenings right now. I'm intrigued by how the politics in the show plays out, and the personal struggles of some of the characters makes you wanna think about what you would do in their shoes. Problem with the show? The timeslot. I'm usually either out, or there would be some blockbuster movie showing on another channel at the same time, and I would sadly have to keep switching back and forth, and not get to watch everything =(
Speaking of blockbusters... The Last Samurai just showed again last weekend, and dammit, I still think it's one of the best modern shows around. To hell with action and science fiction, what we need is some great acting, a plausible plot, samurais and ninjas, and a marvellous art direction for the show to be good. I particularly savoured the character development of Tom Cruise's character, and the focus on the samurais' way of life and code of honour.
I'm looking forward to listening to the PLAY! Symphony later on in June!
