Wine

O! Wine, the drink of the gods.
The inspiration of bad poetry,
The catalyst of sappy romance
Indulgence and class
Distilled in a glass.

Bubble White, sparkling in joy
Even the worse of times are
Resolved, in that sleek glass
Of Crystal.

Heartwarmingly red, a steadying drink
Gladdening in your frivolous intoxication
When the world teeters on obliteration,
You remind me, this too shall pass.

Finally, lovely in thy complexity,
Ever so bitter in thy seeming sweetness
Wounded in thy invulnerability, loss in thy Victories.
How unworthy am I, or thy bittersweet tinge.

Merely a glass, yet never has a glass contained so much.
How i longthen for plain water
Whose blandness better suit the taste buds
Of a beggar such as I
Yet what life would be mine,
Without that glass of wine?
